Chef Fermin Nunez
Jerry's Famous Coffee Shop
Chef Fermin's career extends over 20 years of ongoing learning, training and experience in the culinary trade. His passion to become a chef started in his mom's kitchen, during his teenage years. In 1986, he landed his first food-related job at Macayo's Mexican Restaurant working as a Prep Cook. The time spent at Macayo's allowed Fermin's fondness of the culinary world to grow much stronger.
In 1989, Fermin became part of the Jerry's Nugget family as a Dish Washer. Within eight months of cleaning dishes, he quickly transitioned into the cooking department as First Cook. His daily, hard-core tasks involved doing just about everything in the kitchen! From prepping salads, cooking steaks and prime rib, and storing ingredients for inventory.
In 1994, Fermin's hard work and devotion paid off and he advanced to the job title of Sous Chef. During this time, he learned many savvy cooking techniques, taught entry-level cooks, mastered the secret ingredients among popular food specials at Jerry's Nugget, and managed cost control in the food department. Fermin further strengthened his skills by studying at the College of Southern Nevada with an emphasis in the Culinary Arts and Sanitation and Nutrition.
Then in 1997, Fermin received another promotion as an assistant to the Executive Chef. From there, he perfected his cooking skills to finer foods dealing with French, Mexican, Greek and American cuisines. Because of his unending passion to learn the culinary arts, Fermin is now the Executive Chef of Jerry's Famous Coffee Shop. Fermin is excited and welcomes the everyday challenges. The best part about his job is that he gets to work together with Ana Nunez, his baby sister and Pastry Head Chef of the Jerry's Nugget Bakery. Fermin looks forward to creating new and tasty dishes that will delight his guests and above all, he is fond of teaching and growing with Jerry's Nugget.
